This position involves travel to local and regional plant facilities, so candidates can be based anywhere within the regional territory. The ideal candidate will manage a small team of food scientists, focusing on food products intended for direct consumer sales and the food service industry.
We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual for this newly created role. You will drive and complete the development process while being self-motivated, flexible, and eager to tackle the challenges that come with this diverse position.
Responsibilities:
Manage a staff and a portfolio of products ensuring the proper formulation and documentation is done to lead to the success of new product commercialization.
Develop new formulations and applications.
Manage new product development & process development from concept to release.
Oversee the economic feasibility and technical costs involved to be competitive.
Convince the quality of completed products produced are meeting consumer preference.
Identify areas needing improvement through process optimization; formula costs reductions through operational improvements.
Deliver technical support to customers, direct reports and other departments as needed.
Provide technical presentations to both internal & external customers.
Support the Operations, Sales, Customers and others for various project activities and manufacturing specifications.
Perform research for quality improvements in new products.
Requirements: BS. Food Science, or related degree – a master’s degree is preferred.
10 + years in R&D product development in the Food Manufacturing Industry.
5 + years in R&D Supervisory / Management of a team.
Must have strong knowledge of USDA & FDA regulations.
Experience with Labeling and Nutritional Facts and products sold at Food Service.
Must be creative and passionate about food with the ability to help market new products and identify new opportunities.
Comfortable with speaking in public conferences / meetings and customer visits and ability to wear several different hats.
Strong preference for candidates with experience in meat products.
Exposure working with consumer insight & sensory research teams.
Pilot Plant & Plant Testing administration experience.
Strong PC skills, Microsoft Office Suite with strong interpersonal skills. SAP a plus.
Have the ability to be located anywhere in the State of Oklahoma.
Must be currently authorized to work in the USA without the need for a visa sponsorship now or in the future.
